Who We Are

Thank you for visiting the CHILD Scale website! The CHILD® is owned by CHILD Research and Education Consulting LLC.

  • Chin Reyes, Ph.D.

is the director of the CHILD Program and an Assistant Professor at the Yale Child Study Center. She directs the research, training, and professional development around the CHILD Tool. Since its inception in 2016, the CHILD Tool has been implemented in over 15 states across the U.S. and Canada, and the Infant-Toddler (home-based child care) version of the CHILD is currently being pilot-tested in New York. Furthermore, the CHILD is a Keystone STARS-approved program observation instrument in Pennsylvania. Chin completed her Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology at Fordham University. She also has a B.A. in Psychology from Ateneo de Manila University. Chin applies the latest innovations in human developmental science to improve practice, programming, and social policy both nationally and internationally. She possesses a broad repertoire of skills ranging from conducting rigorous research and program evaluations, developing program models impacting youth, developing assessment tools, and providing professional development opportunities for early childhood care and education staff. Chin serves as expert panelist on several research study committees and advisory board councils around issues of quality and equity in early education. Her primary area of interest is the promotion of social and emotional learning skills in young children.

The CHILD program would not be possible without the significant contributions of our support team and partners:
