The Infant Toddler (I-T) CHILD project strengthens family day care by partnering providers with early childhood consultants to support the social and emotional development of infants and toddlers.
If you are a licensed family day care or group family day care provider in New York City, we would like to help you strengthen your work with children and families.

“She gave me an idea on how to manage the behavior of the children, how to speak to the parents, and how to reinforce that same behavior at home.”
–I-T CHILD project participant
What to Expect
A consultant will provide virtual (and/or onsite) coaching in your program over a span of 3-4 months, depending on your needs. The consultant will observe your program, help you reflect on your teaching, and introduce you to powerful strategies to support children’s healthy development. Yale University researchers will study how consultants use the I-T CHILD, and how helpful it is for you.
Yale will send you online surveys to help us understand how the I-T CHILD is benefitting you. These surveys will be sent at the beginning, end and three months after consultation.
What We Offer
Free, one-on-one meetings with a consultant to help strengthen your caregiving practices.
New strategies and skills to foster healthy social emotional learning in your program.
Up to $300 in gift cards for completing all surveys throughout the study.
I-T CHILD training for family day care providers (after the study is complete).

“I would say to the providers that if they are invited to participate in this study with Yale, to be willing because in reality it’s something that it can help us to progress and make better quality of service in regard to our job and the parents. As for the parents, we could say that it is a way we prepare ourselves in regard to any activity, or any practice that we could do to teach their children and it’s a form to give them a better service as well.”

“The only thing I would like to say is that I’m very grateful, thank you very much, and to continue working with one (a consultant) because in reality we providers need the support from people like you so that we can also go forward.” –I-T CHILD project participant
